Question by It’s me!: Can I put an iron wine bottle rack with glass outside the house?
A while back, I bought a beautiful iron bottle rack wine bar holder at an auction at a very high end furniture store. I think it is about 2 1/2 to 3 feet in height and about 3 1/2 in length. Its all in black and has beautiful grapes and leaves but all in iron. A glass sits on top of the rack for wine glasses. It just does not match the inside of our NEW house. I was thinking about taking it out side under a wood porch. I will REALLY match the black patio table. I just don’t know if it will rust and wonder if I should pray it with some kind of protection. Any suggestions?

Yes, you definitely want to coat it with polyurethane. If you put the rack outside without protection, it will rust.

I recommend coating the iron with the polyurethane OUTSIDE…and maybe also wear a mask. It smells very bad and is somewhat toxic.

If you coat the wine rack thoroughly, the polyurethane should protect it from rust.

You can buy polyurethane at most hardware stores and also Lowes and Home Depot.

Another alternative…re-paint the iron with black Rustoleum paint…also available at hardware stores, Lowes, and Home Depot

Yes, the wine rack is still progressing. Today I finished the “ladders” the rungs of which will hold the bottles.

All that’s left to do is to make some transverse pieces to ensure that the vertical legs stay straight and slot the legs into the base and top pieces.

Could someone let me know what the upper temperature range for a wine or beverage refrigerator is?

We are looking not to maintain wine, but another item at a specific temperature range. This material must be maintained at “room temperature” (64-77 degrees Farenheit), and a normal refrigerator is too cold and the temperature range cannot really be controlled. We are concerned especially during the summer where the ambient temperature may go above 77 degrees.

We see a wine or beverage coolers as our best option, but websites basically state the lower range of temperature (which is actually too low for our purpose), we need to know the upper range of temperature.

If anyone who owns a wine or beverage refrigerator could help us with the upper range of temperature in general and let us know whether one could be set for 64-77 degrees it would be appreciated.

If anyone knows of any specific models or brands that fit the criteria, it would be wonderful. Thanks.
To further clarify, I am not looking to store wine, but need to know if a wine or beverage cooler can be set within a temperature range of 64-77 degrees farenheit.

If you are going to keep both red & white varietals… 55 to 58 degrees is ideal.
